Spring and Summer Outfit Ideas Inspired by the 2024 Met Gala

The Met Gala, one of the most anticipated events in the fashion calendar, never fails to inspire with its extravagant themes and jaw-dropping celebrity looks. In 2024, the Met Gala theme was "Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion," and the dress code for the attendees was “Garden of Time”.

The Costume Institute’s theme as well as the accompanying dress code requires quite a complex, yet beautiful, explanation. But to be concise, the theme and dress code was all about fleeting beauty. As with any art, the theme and dress code can be interpreted in so many ways. The red carpet was filled with florals, beautifully distressed gowns and textured nudes that symbolized the sands of time or the passage of time.

While the red carpet showcased an array of stunning designer ensembles, not everyone can afford the price tags that come with haute couture. Fortunately, we can take inspiration from the best looks of the night and recreate them with budget-friendly alternatives for our spring and summer wardrobes.

Florals

As expected, the red carpet was filled with gorgeous floral pieces.

Gothic, Distressed Look

Emma Chamberlain wore a beautiful distressed gown from Jean Paul Gaultier which aptly represented the “Sleeping Beauties” of the Costume Institute’s exhibition — archived pieces that are literally too fragile to be worn ever again.
